Safeworking at Height Instructors Programme

Safeworking at Height Instructors Programme

At the end of May RNE delivered their first Safe Working at Height Instructors course to the North East Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team.

The course aim was to develop existing experienced HART operatives with the knowledge and skills to deliver working at height training to qualified personnel within their own organisation.
Delivering safe work at height training requires far more than just knowledge and skill in working in that environment. Instructors are required to be able to effectively pass this information on therefore particular emphasis was placed on developing each candidates’ ability to proficiently plan and deliver safe and effective learning events and provide meaningful assessment.

Throughout the week, all the candidates worked incredibly hard with daily examinations, assessments and presentations.

On the final day each candidate was required to undertake and successfully complete a rescue and group management exercise that proved their ability to work under stress and keep students safe whilst training in hazardous environments.

We are pleased to say that everyone met the required standard and we look forward to working with them again shortly as part of their ongoing instructor CPD programme.

A huge well done to all the candidates for their dedication, effort and humour!

Below is just some of the brilliant feedback provided by NEAS HART’s new SWAHi’s…

“Excellent course, relevant and delivered by enthusiastic instructors”

“Even the dry subjects like lesson planning were made very interesting”

“Focus of the course was NOT what I expected it exceeded my expectations, I feel this was the best course I have completed since joining the service and thoroughly enjoyed my time feeling more confident in my new role”
